The production process of planning architectural models
Planning architectural models are important carriers for urban planning, architectural design, and display. Their production requires the integration of multidimensional elements such as material selection, process accuracy, and digital technology. From "drawings to physical objects", a rigorous process is required. Analyze its production logic from the core steps as follows:
1、 Preliminary preparation: drawing analysis and material selection
Before production, it is necessary to study the architectural planning drawings and clarify key information such as building proportions, functional zoning, and material textures.
Material selection: Accurately match materials based on building type and display requirements. ABS board is commonly used in the main structure (with good machinability and smooth surface); Glass curtain walls and metal components are made of transparent resin and metal sheets (to enhance realism); The terrain and landscape of the sand table can be made of high-density PU board and environmentally friendly foam material (simulating natural texture).
Process planning: Develop component accuracy standards in advance to set the "precision tone" for subsequent digital processing and manual detail handling.
2、 Digital processing: precise restoration of architectural form
Modern architectural model production has widely adopted digital technologies such as laser cutting and 3D printing to achieve efficient production of complex surfaces and detailed components.
Laser cutting: For flat components such as roofs and walls, CAD drawings are imported to accurately cut building contours, windows, decorative lines, and other details, ensuring dimensional errors are controlled at the millimeter level.
3D printing: Suitable for irregular components such as curved balconies and hollow decorations, it can be directly printed and formed through 3D modeling, breaking through the limitations of traditional manual craftsmanship and restoring the "futuristic" or "artistic" sense of architecture.
3、 Manual assembly and detail polishing
The digitally processed components need to be assembled manually to achieve "integrity" and enhance the texture of details.
Main body splicing: Assemble the cut/printed components layer by layer according to the drawing scale, fix them with glue, mortise and tenon, and other processes to ensure structural stability.
Detail carving:
Glass curtain wall: Simulate glass reflection with transparent resin and restore the frame with metal lines;
Roof tiles: Hand pasted small-sized tiles simulate the "layered texture" of traditional architecture;
Landscape vegetation: Use simulated lawns and miniature trees to restore green belts, making the model more "lively".
4、 Post production coloring and scene integration
Coloring is the key to making a model come alive, and it is necessary to balance color reproduction and scene coordination.
Color matching: Refer to the architectural rendering and use acrylic paint, spray paint, and other tools to accurately restore the colors of exterior walls, doors, windows, and landscapes;
Scene fusion: If it is a sand table model, it is necessary to integrate the architectural model with terrain, roads, water systems and other scene elements, simulate day and night effects through lighting, and make the model a "narrative planning carrier".
