Hong Kong Passenger Aircraft Model Manufacturing Process
I. Material Preparation Stage
ABS engineering plastic is selected as the main material, balancing strength and detail expression. The wing section is laser-cut from 3mm aviation plywood to ensure the wing curvature matches the actual aircraft. The window frames use 0.2mm brass etched sheets, while the windshield employs acrylic vacuum coating technology.
II. Precision Processing Flow
Fuselage Formation: Using a five-axis CNC milling machine, the ABS blank is machined into a semi-finished product with skin texture, focusing on reproducing the design of the Airbus A350.
Detail Addition: Hand-applied etched sheet metal flaps guide covers, with 132 scaled rivet holes drilled using a 0.3mm drill bit at the engine nacelle.
Landing Gear System: Zinc alloy die-cast hubs with silicone tyres, and hydraulic rods simulated using medical-grade stainless steel microtubes.
III. Painting Process
Base coat preparation: First, apply a grey water-based filler to inspect for defects, then apply three coats of white primer using an electrostatic sprayer
Colour separation masking: Use 0.5mm masking tape to divide the fuselage colour stripes
Weathering effects: Apply carbon buildup effects at the engine exhaust, and use oil paint wash to depict oil residue accumulation in the landing gear bay
