Luxury yacht model production case
Model Overview
This production is based on the luxury yacht in the picture, restored in a 1:24 ratio, with a total length of approximately 60 centimeters. The model focuses on presenting the streamlined superstructure, layered deck structure, porthole layout, and stern platform of the yacht. Through modular design, the deck can be disassembled, and the overall visual fidelity is over 90%.
Material selection
Main structure: the hull is shaped with high-density Poly Dragon foam, and the surface is covered with epoxy resin to enhance hardness; The deck is made of multiple layers of birch veneer, achieving a natural wood grain texture through lamination technology. The superstructure is laser cut with ABS sheets to ensure a sharp modern yacht style.
Detail components: The fence and handrail are manually bent with 0.8mm brass wire, the radar antenna is made of 3D printed ABS material, and the ship window is laser engraved with brown acrylic board.
Decorative materials: The deck is covered with simulated teak wood stickers, and the interior of the cabin is made of etched pieces to create miniature furniture. The stern platform is paired with brown plush material to simulate anti slip pads.
manufacturing process
Hull shaping: Poly Dragon foam is carved with the basic contour by CNC, and then the V-shaped bottom and side arc are manually polished. Apply atomic ash on the surface to fill in subtle flaws, and repeatedly water polish until a mirror effect is achieved.
Superstructure: ABS board is used to shape the inclined porthole frame through hot bending technology, and each deck is jointed with mortise and tenon structure to ensure stable load-bearing. Leave a 2mm gap between the cockpit windshield and the hull to simulate the assembly process of a real yacht.
Detail assembly: The brass fence is first nickel plated and then manually welded, with a support column set every 3cm; The radar mast adopts a sleeve structure and can rotate 360 degrees; The stern staircase is etched with 0.5mm thick copper sheet, and the height error of the steps is controlled within 0.2mm.
post-processing
Coloring process: The main color of the hull is off white car paint, which is evenly covered through three layers of spraying. The area below the deck is coated with dark brown matte paint, creating a color transition with the upper layer. Hand drawn golden borders on the porthole frame enhance the sense of layering.
Aging treatment: Lightly sweep light gray paint at the waterline of the ship to simulate the effect of seawater erosion; The metal parts are sprayed with transparent matte varnish, presenting a slight oxidized texture.
Lighting system: A miniature LED light group is embedded in the cockpit, powered by a hidden battery compartment at the bottom of the ship, simulating nighttime navigation lighting effects.
final effect
When the model is observed under natural light, the reflection of the hull surface is highly consistent with the light and shadow effects of the real ship, and the direction of the deck wood grain corresponds perfectly to the prototype. From a distance of 1.5 meters, except for the inability to achieve real navigation functions, the visual detail difference is less than 10%. Through the embedded acrylic display platform at the bottom, the overall visual effect of the yacht floating on the water surface is presented, fully restoring the luxurious texture and modern aesthetic features of the prototype.
