1、 Material selection: Choosing the right foundation is key
We choose fiberglass as the substrate, which is lightweight, weather resistant, and not easily deformed even when exposed to wind and sun outdoors. The main body of the sculpture is first cast with fiberglass to ensure structural stability and facilitate subsequent coloring; The deer antlers are finely crafted with resin, simulating the texture and transparency of real deer antlers, making the sculpture's "bone feel" more vivid.
2、 Production process: from "skeleton" to "flesh and blood"
Styling: First, use clay to create a small-scale prototype, repeatedly adjust the standing posture and horn curvature of the deer, allowing each deer's movement to naturally stretch (such as slightly bending the front legs and standing the back legs, as if walking lightly on the lawn).
Mold making: The clay prototype is turned into a fiberglass mold, and the inner wall of the mold needs to be polished smooth and delicate to make the sculpture surface "flawless".
Pouring molding: Pour fiberglass slurry into the mold, and after the slurry solidifies, demold to obtain the sculpture "blank". This step requires strict control of the thickness of the slurry to ensure that the sculpture is lightweight and sturdy.
Detail carving: Use carving tools to carve the texture of deer hair, the branching of antlers, and even the expression of deer eyes on the surface of fiberglass - the gaze should be bright and lively, as if it is about to move in the next second.
3、 Post processing: Bring the sculpture to life
Polishing: Use sandpaper to repeatedly polish the surface of the sculpture from coarse to fine, making it as smooth as a mirror, even the texture of the antlers is clearly visible.
Primer spraying: Spray a layer of primer to protect the substrate and make subsequent coloring more uniform.
Color coloring:
First, give the deer body a base color (such as deep blue or dark green), and then use acrylic paint to draw flowers and leaves - choose bright red, yellow, and pink for the flowers, and bright green for the leaves, making the colors "live" on the sculpture;
Antlers are gradually changed in light blue and light green to simulate the transparency of natural antlers;
Finally, add bright colors to the deer's eye points to instantly brighten their gaze.
Protective layer spraying: Spray a layer of clear varnish, which not only makes the color more durable, but also gives the sculpture surface a glossy finish that cannot be damaged by wind and rain.
4、 The secret to a 90% restoration rate
We repeatedly compare the shape and color of real deer, and even go to the zoo to observe their movements, ensuring that the sculpture is "lifelike"; When coloring, refer to the color hierarchy of natural flowers to make every detail feel like it is "growing" on the sculpture.
