Case Study of Sand Table Model Production for Scenic Area Architecture:
1、 Material selection
The main structure adopts solid wood frame (such as pine and fir), with PVC board as the bottom plate on the surface, which combines strength and aesthetics. The main body of the building is made of ABS engineering plastic board, which is precisely cut by laser cutting; The roof is made of acrylic sheet and curved through hot bending technology. The road uses PVC simulated pavement to simulate the texture of asphalt and cement; The water body adopts LED light strips and transparent resin, presenting flowing light and shadow after being powered on at night. Vegetation selection includes simulated lawns, shrubs, and trees, paired with detailed materials such as moss and grass; The lighting system adopts LED point light sources and line light sources to achieve building lighting and atmosphere creation.
2、 Production process
Bottom plate and frame: After polishing and grinding, the solid wood frame is covered with PVC board on the surface, and the edges are fixed with wood glue and fixtures to ensure flatness.
Architectural production: After cutting the ABS board, assemble the main body of the building through splicing and bonding. The roof acrylic board is hot bent and bonded to the main body, and the gaps are filled with soil.
Roads and water bodies: PVC pavement is cut in proportion, glued to the bottom plate, and the edges are polished smooth with sandpaper; First lay LED light strips in the water area, then cover them with transparent resin to simulate water ripples.
Vegetation and Lighting: Simulated vegetation is planted proportionally, trees are fixed with clay, and shrubs are glued together; LED lights are connected to the power box through wires to achieve zoning control.
3、 Post processing and coloring
Surface treatment: Polish the building surface with sandpaper, fill the gaps with soil, and spray primer (such as white primer) to enhance adhesion.
Coloring process: Using the "layered coating method", first spray the base color (such as gray on the exterior wall of a building), then spray the middle layer (such as red on the roof), and finally spray the topcoat (such as white on the wall). Use a thinner to transition between each layer to avoid color difference.
Detail depiction: The building doors and windows are protected with covering liquid, and the edges are trimmed with a 000 grit pen; Vegetation is simulated with a spray bottle to create a sense of moisture, while trees are textured with a marker pen.
Lighting debugging: LED light and electrical testing, adjusting brightness and color temperature to ensure that the night effect is coordinated with the daytime scene.
