Aircraft Engine Model Manufacturing Case Study
I. Project Requirements Analysis
The client requested a scale turbofan engine model, requiring complete representation of the inlet, compressor, combustion chamber, turbine, and exhaust nozzle structures with ≥90% accuracy for static aviation exhibition display.

II. Core Manufacturing Process
Material Selection
Main structure: 7075 aerospace aluminum machined via 5-axis milling, with critical components laser-sintered from titanium alloy (0.05mm layer thickness)
Rotating parts: POM engineering plastic injection-molded blades, dynamically balanced to ±0.5g weight tolerance
Transparent components: 5mm anti-glare acrylic with CNC-machined internal flow channels
Precision Machining
Compressor blades: "Split electroforming" process – 3D-printed wax patterns electroplated with nickel-cobalt alloy to create 0.3mm thin-wall hollow structures
Combustor assembly: Photo-etched stainless steel laminates (32 layers laser-cut and riveted)
Surface Treatment
Anodizing: Hardcoat anodizing (20μm) on core casings with ΔE≤1.5 color deviation
Thermal zone gradient coating:
• Color transition: 6-stage masked spraying for natural blue-gold-black gradient
III. Quality Verification
3D scanning: Critical dimensional tolerance controlled within ±0.12mm
Environmental testing: 24 hours atRH with zero coating delamination
Mobility test: 100 manual rotation cycles without bearing resistance
