Architectural model production case: from drawings to 90% restored "factory level" presentation

In our factory's production workshop, the birth of this architectural model is the result of the collaboration of craftsmanship, materials, and post-processing. From drawings to finished products, every step hides the secret of "90% restoration". Now let's take you into the production site

1、 Preliminary preparation: drawing disassembly and material selection

After receiving the architectural drawings, first confirm the architectural style and scale (such as 1:50) with the designer, and then disassemble the building into four major modules: main structure, landscape, roads, and walls.

In terms of material selection, the main structure is made of foam board (light and easy to cut), and the exterior wall is pasted with PVC board (simulating the metal/glass texture of modern buildings); Grey sandpaper is used for the road (simulating the granular feel of asphalt road), and black PVC board and metal strip are selected for the fence (restoring the dark colored fence in the picture); Simulated lawn for greening (simulated turf), with white small stones laid on flower beds (restored decorative stones in the picture).

2、 Main structure: cutting, splicing, shaping

Cutting and splicing:

Draw the building outline on the foam board with the art knife and cut it into an "L" main body. Then cut the PVC board into outer wall pieces, and paste it on the foam board with glue - white PVC simulates glass curtain wall, and black PVC is used as the building frame to accurately restore the modern sense of "black and white contrast" in the picture.

Door and window details:

Transparent PVC sheets (simulating glass) and black PVC strips (simulating window frames) are used for doors and windows. They are first pasted on the foam board, and then engraved with a knife to carve the glass texture, so that the "light transmission" of doors and windows is consistent with the figure.

Roof shaping:

Use foam board as roof frame, stick grey PVC board (simulating metal roof), and reinforce the edge with glue to ensure that the roof radian matches the drawing completely.

3、 Landscape and Road: The "Realism" in Details

Roads and Walls:

The road is covered with foam board with sandpaper and fixed with glue; The fence is made of black PVC board as the bottom, with metal bars as the railing, and a simulated lawn is pasted at the bottom to restore the hierarchy of "road+fence+greenery" in the picture.

Greening and Decoration:

Laying white small stones on the flower bed and surrounding it with a simulated lawn; Insert simulated flowers into the flower bed (yellow flowers restore the color in the picture), and then use green PVC board to make the "flower bed frame", making the landscape consistent with the "exquisite feeling" in the picture.

4、 Post processing: coloring and detail polishing

Coloring:

Coloring buildings with acrylic paint - white PVC coated with light gray (simulating glass reflection) and black PVC coated with deep gray (simulating metallic texture) on the exterior walls; Road sandpaper brushed with deep gray (simulating asphalt road), wall metal strips brushed with silver gray (restoring metallic luster).

Detail polishing:

Sand the edges of the building with sandpaper to make the connection between foam board and PVC board more natural; Use a fine brush to draw "shadow lines" on doors and windows, making the building's "three-dimensional" feel consistent with the image.

5、 Finished product presentation: 90% restored 'factory produced'

After all modules are assembled, the similarity between the model and the drawing reaches 90% - the building outline, exterior wall material, road texture, green layout, and even the "yellow flowers in the flower bed" are almost identical to those in the picture.
